    Description

Embrace the raw, natural beauty of the Heritage Amaryllis Collection. This selection features non-hybridized and species-type Hippeastrum, prized by collectors and traditional gardeners for their elegant, classic silhouettes and robust "wild" vigor. Unlike the heavy-petaled modern hybrids, these varieties offer a more delicate, refined trumpet shape and an organic charm that feels right at home in a tropical or woodland-style garden.

    The Visual Highlights

    • Natural Trumpet Form: These non-hybrids produce the iconic, slender trumpet shape that defines the original Amaryllis species. The petals are often more pointed and graceful, offering a timeless "botanical illustration" look.

    • Authentic Color Palette: Expect a stunning mix of earthy crimsons, pure whites, and soft bicolors. These varieties often feature deep, contrasting "throats" and more prominent, natural-looking stamens.

    • Resilient Growth: Non-hybrids are often noted for their vigorous nature and ability to naturalize in the garden, returning year after year with increased strength.

    • Strap-Shaped Greenery: Long, medium-green leaves emerge in a fountain-like clumping habit, reaching up to 18 inches and providing a lush backdrop for the spring blooms.

    Why Choose the Non-Hybrid Mix?

"For the gardener who appreciates botanical history, the Non-Hybrid mix offers a window into the original beauty of the Andes. These are the hardy ancestors of the modern amaryllis, offering a more delicate and airy aesthetic."

    • Reliable Naturalizers: These varieties often adapt more easily to garden soil than their highly-bred cousins, making them excellent for long-term landscaping.

    • Superior for Semi-Shade: Inherently adapted to forest-edge environments, these non-hybrids are particularly happy in partly shaded places with a warm, humid atmosphere.

    • Graceful Cut Flowers: Their slender stems and elegant flower heads make for sophisticated, "undone" floral arrangements that look like they were gathered from a meadow.

    Planting & Care Guide

    • Pot Culture: An 8-inch pot is recommended for a single bulb to ensure proper root development. Plant the bulb "up to its neck" in the potting medium, keeping the top third of the bulb exposed.

    • Planting Media: Use ordinary garden soil thoroughly mulched with sand and well-decayed cow manure. High-quality drainage is essential for species-type bulbs.

    • Watering: Water on a regular basis during the active growth period to keep the soil moist. Pro Tip: Once the leaves turn yellow, stop watering to allow the bulb to enter its natural rest period.

    • Sunlight: While they prefer full sunlight for maximum bloom size, they are remarkably tolerant of partly shady spots, where the colors often appear more saturated.

    Personal, sustainable, and educational

Our plants and mosses are hand selected at local growers with the utmost care and love. Here, they are grown in the most sustainable way possible. This way, the plants in your glass bottle are guaranteed to thrive together and you will enjoy your personal ecosystem with plants for many years to come.

We learn by doing. By creating your own terrarium with plants in a bottle yourself or with your children you learn about the various facets of the earth and thus the basis of our living existence in a creative way. Stone, potting soil, roots, plants, water and recycling all come together in this creative eye-catcher for your home.

    Good to know

    • We work with MPS-certified plants and recycled glassware.
    • Dimensions and colours of live plants may vary.
    • It is also possible that, due to the season, a pictured plant is not in stock.
    • In that case you will receive a beautiful alternative.
    • It is recommended to open your ecosystem once a month for a few hours.

    Pro Tip:

Avoid "wet feet" at all costs! To prevent your bulbs or rhizomes from rotting before they wake up, mix a handful of coarse sand or perlite into the bottom of your planting hole. This creates a "drainage pillow" that keeps water from pooling around the base during heavy rains.
